Is Canva Still Worth Investing?

Date: October 30, 2022

Creator Economy is valued at more than 100 billion dollars in 2022, and if Cathy Wood is to be believed, this could become a 400 billion dollar industry by 2026. That growth is HUGE, and the majority of it is expected to be driven by the non-professional content creator segment, which happens to be more than 95% of the total content creation market.

If you have ever wanted to invest in this industry, I am sure you have heard of the pre-IPO company Canva. For Investors wanting to benefit from the growing creator economy, Canva has been a much-awaited IPO. It is a beginner-focused content design tool that was valued at 40 billion dollars in early 2022.  At its core: Canva relies on providing users with stock media and easy-to-apply templates to make graphic designing easy

But, if you have been seriously contemplating an investment in Canva IPO, you need to pay attention to this move by Microsoft that may change this Canva’s destiny forever!

So, what did Microsoft do exactly?

A few weeks back Microsoft announced its AI-powered text-to-graphic conversion tool called Designer and made it part of the Office 365 portfolio. If you think Canva is easy to use, Designer is in a whole different league.

Where in Canva you have access to a vast library of stock media and templates to find the one that suits your purpose the best, in Designer you just have to describe what you are looking for.

And, the AI generates the perfect graphic for you. This is way easier than Canva.

Now, I would not say that Microsoft Designer will be the Canva killer that many want us to believe, but is what I will say: If you were planning on investing a large sum in Canva IPO or in any other graphic design startup – THINK IT THROUGH!
